Dr Greg Markey was an expert medical assessor at the MHRA from 1998 until July 2019 and has been the UK member on various EMA committees and working parties for most of that time. These include the Committee for Orphan Medicinal Products (COMP) since 2004, the CHMP’s Efficacy Working Party, the CNS working Party (vice chair), and most recently the EMA’s Committee for Human Medicinal Products (CHMP, UK member) for 6 years until July 2019.
Greg is a physician with a clinical background in Intensive Care medicine. This involved training and clinical experience in a wide range of internal medicine specialties (most notably neurology, cardiology, endocrinology / diabetes and respiratory medicine) as well as in anaesthesia. At the MHRA he worked in the medicines licensing unit responsible for CNS products (neurology, psychiatry, anaesthesia and pain). At the CHMP he was rapporteur for a very wide range of products covering all of the major therapeutic areas.
